Not To Be Missed

This week marks the opening of the William Eggleston retrospective at the Art Institute in Chicago.  Democratic Camera, Photographs and Video, 1961-2008 is the first U.S. retrospective for the hugely influential Eggleston.  Often considered to be the photographer who brought color photography into acceptance as an art form, Eggleston has affected the history of photography in a fairly dramatic way.

While Team Elledge has already had the benefit of seeing this exhibit (at the Whitney), we are all very excited for another chance to view this incredible body of work.  If you are familiar with Eggleston and his work, you should be very excited to see this show.  If you aren't familiar with him, you really need to check it out.  Either way, pencil in a date on your calendar for dropping by the show (it runs from February 27 through May 23).
