The recent flu outbreak has had most of the news networks buzzing with stories about the pros (none that we know of) and cons (a few) of catching this new bug.

Here at the Elledge Blog, however, we have caught the art opening bug, and we are very excited about the following current and opening shows:

For starters, while in NYC this week, Paul managed to make it to Into the Sunset: Photography's image of the American West at the MoMA.  This is a wonderful photography show that you should take the opportunity to check out if you are in NYC.

As we mentioned earlier, this is the weekend for Art Chicago/Artropolis, and the Merchandise Mart will be filled with art, artists and onlookers.  A few other notable Chicago openings are occurring this weekend as well, and with the right planning you should be able to make it to all of them by the time the weekend comes to an end.

Our friends, The Post Family, will be hosting an opening party for a show by Rachel Niffenegger at their Family Room gallery (1821 W. Hubbard St. #202) on Saturday, May 2nd from 6-11.  The fine fellows who make up The Post Family not only run a very informative blog, but they have done an incredible job of curating some great shows this year, and it's only May!  The word on the street is that this will be another show that you should not miss...

The Olafur Eliasson exhibition, Take your time, is opening at the MCA on Friday, May 1st.  This is the first comprehensive survey in the United States of works by Eliasson and includes pieces drawn from collections around the world.

And speaking of May 1st, we want to remind everyone (as if you needed the reminder) that it is the official Opening Day of Moustache May!  Whether you view the growing of a moustache as a lifestyle, a trend or an oddity, we encourage you to give it your best shot!  Please feel free to keep us updated on the results...

Finally, if you actually ARE concerned about the current flu bug going around we encourage you to reference this informative website: www.doihaveswineflu.org
